Our School Charity

Following a suggestion made by one of our pupils in 2018, we have chosen a different charity to support each year. We thought it was a great idea of his to work with a charity over an academic year. 

In 2024/25 we will be supporting The Stars Appeal!

Previous school charities

We supported Hearing Dogs for Deaf People for two years.

How did we support the Hearing Dogs?

We took part in a whole school non-uniform day and a sponsored dog walk. We raised nearly £250! 

A group of Year 4 pupils also organised a weekly origami shop, selling their handmade items. 

We supported Salisbury's Foodbank. The foodbank is part of  The Trussell Trusts’ network of 428 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in our local communities, as well as across the UK. Home - Salisbury Foodbank

How did we support the Foodbank?

We held a Harvest, Christmas and Easter appeal. At Harvest we donated 90kg of food, at Christmas 290kg of food, £41 and 32 shoeboxes collected and at Easter two bags of chocolate eggs! Our pupils visited the Foodbank to help sort and organise hampers and learned more about how the charity supports those in need.

We supported Alabare, a local Christian charity that supports vulnerable, homeless and marginalised people.  Alabare help them transform their lives, providing accommodation and helping them gain the skills, confidence and opportunities to live a fulfilled life. How did we support Alabare?

• Our Harvest appeal was donated to Alabare. We collected a huge amount of food and presented it to Laura, their Community Engagement Officer, at our Harvest festival.  

•                       We had a collection at all of our Christmas events and have donated this to Alabare... we raised £310!! 

•  Laura and Roofus from Alabare delivered an assembly about their charity and who/how they support in our local area. School Council pupils are now planning some sponsored events.

• More than 200 people slept overnight in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral - to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless in the city. The annual 'big sleep' has been held for more than a decade - this year one of our parents, Mrs Peska, braved the cold!

School Defibrillator

Our School Council raised over £1000 for a school defibrillator. It is on the wall outside our school office and is available for the wider community if any one was to suffer from a cardiac arrest.
