Parent Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Sarum St Paul’s CofE (VA) Primary School, we aim to promote positive mental health for every member of our school community; pupils, staff, parents and carers and governors, and recognise how important mental health and emotional well-being is to our lives in just the same way as physical health. We pursue this aim using both universal, whole school approaches and specialised, targeted approaches.

In addition to promoting positive mental health, we aim to recognise and respond to mental ill health. By developing and implementing practical, relevant and effective mental health policies and procedures we can promote a safe and stable environment for students affected both directly and indirectly by mental ill health, as well as supporting family members with their mental health and wellbeing.

Parenting comes with lots of challenges, which can be even more difficult if they're dealing with mental health needs. Sometimes it does affect their ability to cope with family life. So it's important that parents and carers can find support when they need it. At Sarum St Paul's we offer an open door policy and are proud of the positive relationships we build with all family members. We do not make judgements and we will always welcome you with a friendly face and an approachable manner. We want a family to thrive and we work hard to put systems and support networks in place in order to enable the whole family to flourish.

Where to find help

We can arrange a meeting with you and a member of staff who you feel comfortable with. We can offer support, put things in place for your child/children and be a listening ear (we make a great cup of tea too!).

We employ a Family Link Work, Debbie Newman. She can meet you for a coffee, go for a walk, have a text/phone conversation with you to talk through your worries and signpost you to support.

We work closely with St Paul's Church and can access support through the team here. See their website for more information: St Paul's Salisbury | Renewing Faith | Restoring Hope | Radical Love (stpaulssalisbury.org)
